Today, we are asking you for your help in improving ml5.js and more specifically, our community. It’s been two years since we last updated the Code of Conduct, a document that governs our community and ensures the safety of each and every user and contributor of ml5.js.

We are currently in the process of building the next iteration of the ml5.js core library — a version with state-of-the-art machine learning models, robust technical features, and a narrower scope. The new ml5.js prioritizes the needs and experiences of students, artists, and other machine learning beginners. We believe that everyone should be able to experiment and build with AI tools, regardless of their experience with computer science or software engineering. While this is a work in progress, we believe that our Code of Conduct should evolve alongside the ml5.js library as well as the world around us.

Therefore, we want to hear your voice! We invite you to share feedback on the current state of the ml5.js community and our Code of Conduct. What’s missing? What needs to go? What does it need more or less of? What do you think can be improved? We need your input in order to make sure that we are making changes that truly benefit our community.

There are two ways to provide feedback. The first is to fill out this brief google form. Alternatively, you can create an issue directly in the Code of Conduct Repository in GitHub. If you’re not sure how to create an issue in GitHub, here’s an article to help!

We encourage you to take a look at our previous Call for Comment which outlined our intention and approach to the Code of Conduct and Software License. Additionally, here’s our Code of Conduct and License Announcement from 2021.

You can always reach out on Twitter or on Discord. We look forward to hearing from you!
